Great Bear Lake

Some places are more than just a spot on a map. They become part of our story. For me, that place is Great Bear Lake.

Growing up, Great Bear Lake was where I spent so many of my favorite childhood summers, staying at my aunt and uncle’s house. From long days on the water boating, fishing, and swimming, to evenings spent with family gathered around a bonfire, the memories we made there are truly some of the most treasured memories I have.

Great Bear Lake has always felt like a little escape—a place where life slows down, everyone spends a little more time together, and the best memories are made without even trying. I learned how to fish, catch frogs, what a sandbar was, and even the difference between a painter turtle and a snapping turtle—all on Great Bear Lake. 

And just when I thought my heart was already full of everything GBL had given me, I now bring my own children to Great Bear Lake every summer and watch them create memories of their own—with the children of my cousins, the same people I made so many of my childhood memories with.

There is something incredibly special about returning to a place that shaped so much of your childhood and watching your own children experience that same magic on the exact same lake.
